Get inspired before you get started
Inspiration is out there! It’s so easy to find inspiration online and soak up expert advice from people who specialize in cleaning, decorating, and organizing. Some of our favorite Instagram accounts to follow for #inspo are @thehomeedit, @konmari.co, @grovecollaborative, & @chrislovesjulia. Each of these accounts specialize in different design areas - sharing tips on how to declutter, & decorate while keeping your space cozy, beautiful, and truly feeling like home. Give them each a follow - we promise you’ll be inspired in no time!
Boost your mood with some catchy tunes
I’m a firm believer in listening to music at all times of the day. Not only do I get more work done when I’ve got good tunes flowing, but my overall mood is better too! And let’s be real… I think we all need a little mood booster once the annual spring cleaning posts start flooding our news feeds (unless you’re one of those people who loves to clean… then please, please teach me your ways!) Regardless of where you fall on the cleanliness spectrum, we’ve curated the perfect feel good playlist to get you moving and grooving while you tackle your tasks!
Start small
I don’t know about you, but when I think of all the things that need to get done around the house I tend to get overwhelmed. Thinking about your entire home and all the clutter can make the cleaning process seem daunting. Start by making a list of all the rooms you need to clean and tasks you need to accomplish, starting from the most important to the least! Checking boxes and accomplishing small victories along the way will continue to motivate you until you’ve reached your goal!

Phone a friend
If you’re still lacking motivation, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Bring a trusty friend, spouse, or your kids (fingers crossed…) along for the ride! Doing mundane activities with a buddy is so much more enjoyable than just slaving away on your own (unless you’re introverted… then hey, more power to ya because I couldn’t do it alone!) Cleaning can be fun if you have the right mindset, and a good friend is someone who can give you pep talks and balance you out if you’re feeling down! Be sure to reward them for being there for you - grab some tacos or coffee to fuel up before you get started!

Take breaks
When you’re feeling tired, sit down and rest! You have permission to do that, I promise. Don’t stress about getting it all done in one day if you physically can’t. Take a breather and care for your body. I know how easy it can be to compare your home to instagram influencers, but please understand that the vast majority are just posting highlights from their lives, not the messy kitchen, the dirty laundry, or the kids misbehaving. You’re not alone in your mess, and you’re capable of getting it done. It not only takes time and effort, but proper rest, too!
Use clean products
Trust products that are actually clean to get the job done - I cannot stress this one enough! There are so many safe & affordable chemical-free cleaners on the market these days that are healthy for your home AND your body, so why bring harmful products into your home? Luckily there are resources out there to help guide us in the right direction, like the Think Dirty app! This free app allows you to search or scan products to see if they are harmful, and provides you with full ingredient lists of most products on the market.
We hope these trusty tips have left you feeling inspired and ready to take on the tasks at hand during this fresh, new season. If you’ve got any additional advice for us, we’d love to hear it in the comments! Happy Spring, friends!
