What is a Slow North scent sample?

A scent sample is a small, silver-dollar-sized disc of our signature soy wax, hand-poured with the same pure essential oil blend we use in our full-size candles. It arrives in a glassine bag with a scent discovery card, so once you find the one you love, reordering the full candle is easy.

Samples are made for smelling, not burning. Think of them as the candle aisle, brought to you.

How to use your scent sample

There's no warmer or equipment required. A few ways to experience the scent:

Hold it in your palm for a few seconds. The warmth of your hand releases the essential oils.

Tuck it into a drawer, linen closet, or suitcase as a passive sachet.

Slip one into your car's cup holder or center console.

Place it in a bowl of hot water and let the steam carry the aroma through the room.

If you have a wax warmer, you can melt it, though the sample is small and meant for discovery rather than extended use.

Choosing a candle online is hard. Scent is personal, and descriptions only get you so far. With a scent sample wax melt, you can try a few, narrow down your favorites, and order the full candle with confidence. Every sample is hand-poured in small batches in Austin, Texas, using the same clean ingredients as our signature line: 100% soy wax, pure essential oils, and nothing else. No synthetic fragrance, no dyes, no fillers.
