So you're a candle connoisseur, but have you ever wanted to learn how to actually make one?
Slow North classes learning to make your own candle
At Slow North, we use 100% natural ingredients - soy wax + essential oils - to craft your favorite candles, and that's exactly what you'll be working with when you join one of our candle making workshops.

One of our seasoned Slow North team members will guide you through the process from start to finish. Discover the benefits of sticking to natural candle ingredients before deep diving into an exploration of over a dozen different essential oils, which you'll use to craft your very own custom (and completely natural!) scent blend. We work with a variety of scents - floral, citrusy, musky, woody, spicy - so there's something for everyone.
One of the coolest things is that you’ll leave your candle making workshop with some major bragging rights. Not only is your candle completely customized, but it’s also biodegradable, sustainable, and made of entirely renewable resources. How neat is that?!

Plus, you’ll be pouring your candle into a glass tumbler that can be reused in all sorts of ways. Whether you use it as a pen cup, a piggy bank, a planter, or try your hand at pouring candles at home, your candle’s vessel can be reincarnated in an endless number of ways.

"This was such a fun class at Slow North! I hadn't stopped inside before but found it nicely designed with lots of attractive products... The whole process of making a candle from scratch was enjoyable and it was nice making new friends around the table and seeing what each person brought to their blend. Thanks for having me!"

- Alex V.

"Our group had such a blast making candles. Slow North is so great and the staff is so knowledgeable. Will definitely be going back to shop anytime I’m in Austin!"

- Lindsey L.

"The candle making was super fun and informative - I didn't realize I was a patchouli fan until we smelled all the oils! It's almost been 24 hours since I made my candle which means I'll be able to light it for the first time tonight - I cannot wait!"

- Valerie W.

"I highly recommend taking this class, if you're interested in making candles as a serious hobby or just want a fun activity for an afternoon with a friend, family, or a significant other. I loved how you were able to take your time and sample 14 different oils to choose the exact combination you wanted to make. Very informative and fun."

- Jacob F.

Are candles not really your thing?

We now teach essential oil blending workshops! If you're not the greatest decision-maker, this workshop may be the one for you. Instead of sweating over landing on the scent, you'll get to make two different customized essential oil blends to take home.

You'll learn about properties and benefits of natural essential oils, then spend some time on two custom scent blends to take home. Bonus: this workshop includes one of our wool car diffusers, which you can scent with your new essential oil and clip on your car's vent!

But there are lots of other ways you can use your customized oils, including:

●  in a diffuser as a flame-free way to scent your space
●  on wool dryer balls for naturally-freshened laundry
●  in homemade cleaning products for a customized scent
●  on your neck wrap or eye mask for extra relaxation (just a few drops is all it takes!)
