Indigo Tea Towel
Method: The pattern on this natural flour sack tea towel was created with a resist method using my custom stencil and rice paste. The places where the paste was applied stay white after being dipped three times into a natural indigo.

Since 2013, Lou Garner has been hand-dyeing indigo textiles and accessories to wear and to decorate at home. Working out of her home studio in West Tennessee, she dyes with natural indigo yielding sublime shades. Her patterns are based on a modern shibori method as well as a stencil + rice paste resist method -- utilizing everything from river rocks + wooden blocks to cassette tapes + laser-cut forms to create patterns on natural fibers. Indigo dreams come true.
