In honor of Earth Day, join us for an afternoon Clothes Mending + Altering workshop at Slow North's shop featuring local artist Carol Hargus of Soul Studio. Carol - a 4th generation seamstress with 30+ years of experience - will teach you the basics of mending and altering your favorite clothing. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn hand-sewing techniques to keep all your favorite closet staples in great shape. Bring your own worse-for-wear pieces from home to learn the four basic stiches and pickup skills like how to repair holes, how to hem, how to sew buttons on properly, and more!

Bio:
Carol is a 4th generation seamstress and has been sewing for 30+ years. She co-owns Soul Studio where she is the lead natural dye artist and manages production and development of their line of clothing. Her love of textiles and passion for sustainability led her to co-found Soul Studio in 2016 with her daughter Melissa. Learn more at wearesoulstudio.com.
Included in this Workshop:
- Materials: needles/scissors and other sewing tools, a variety of thread colors, some button options, fabric for test sewing, iron & ironing board
- Please bring: 5-7 different clothing items you’d like to fix
- Optional to bring: your own supplies (like buttons or darning thread)
- To take home: an informational handout, necessary supplies for future repairs, and at least 1 (maybe 2 or 3 if you’re fast!) repaired pieces of clothing
- 2 hours of guided practice from a local professional

Refund policy:
Workshop tickets are non-refundable except in case of workshop cancellation. We do not accept any reschedule/refund requests less than 48 hours in advance. With at least 48 hours advance notice, we may be able to reschedule your ticket for another workshop, but we cannot guarantee this option as it depends on ticket availability.
